ROCHESTER -Rosella Rose M. Gruhlke, 82, died on Thursday, November 3, 2011 at Sunrise Cottages in Rochester. Rose was born in Medford, MN on March 25, 1929 to Edwin and Cecelia (Kvernodden) Nelson.Rose moved to Rochester at a young age and was raised by her Aunt and Uncle, Robert and Emma White.She married Don Gruhlke in 1949 and they later divorced, but remained friends.Don passed away on February 14, 2011.Rose worked as a clerk at Dayton's for 26 years.She was a member at Bethel Lutheran Church for 61 years and was in the choir.In April 2006, she was diagnosed with Alzheimer's, but remained vivacious until the end.She lived at Shorewood Commons for three years and later moved to Sunrise Cottages.She enjoyed fishing and ice skating in her younger days and was a drum majorette. Rose loved her plants and her pets.She was always known to be whistling and singing a song.Rose will be forever remembered for her sense of humor and telling little diddy's and jokes.Every room was brighter when she was in it. Rose is survived by three children; Vicki Gore, of Rochester, Scott Gruhlke, of Zumbro Falls; and Becky (Larry) Stevens, of Rochester; grandchildren, Tara (Aaron) Elliot, of Dallas, TX, Cristofer (Stephanie) Gore, of Kasson, Seth (Jamie) Gore, of Rochester, Adam Olson (Megan Martini), of Rochester, Taylor Stevens, of Rochester, and Jesse Stevens, of Spring Valley; nine great grandchildren; a sister, Donna Albright, of Mesa, AZ; a brother, Alvin Nelson, of Spokane, WA; a brother-in-law, Darrell Hornseth, of Rochester; a sister-in-law, Carol Nelson, of Owatonna; and many nieces and nephews. Rose is preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Dorothy Hornseth and Ardella Ackerman; and two brothers, Norman and Harold Nelson. A Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Tuesday, November 8, 2011 at Bethel Lutheran Church, 810 3rd Ave. SE with Rev. Dr. Norman Wahl officiating.Visitation will be from 4-7 P.M. on Monday, November 7, 2011 at Ranfranz and Vine Funeral Home and an hour prior to the service at the church.Burial will take place at Oakwood Cemetery. Memorials can be directed to Bethel Lutheran Church.
