Ronald Eugene Berg

Ronald Ronnie E. Berg, 80, of Rochester died peacefully on Tuesday, July 24, 2012 at Seasons Hospice. Ron was born October 24, 1931 in Rochester, MN to Walter and Dorothy (Steffes) Berg.He married Patricia Pat Arnold on February 15, 1952 at First Baptist Church in Rochester, MN.He served in the US Army during the Korean War. Ron was a painter for 55 years. In that time he earned his living working for Danewick Painting, owner of Rons Colorama, and part owner of Custom Brushing with his son Steve of Naples, Florida.They lived in Rochester until moving to Naples, FL in 1986.The summer of 2009 they moved back to Rochester. Ron had a passion for golf and that passion was passed on to many family members. He loved spending time with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.Ron was always there to extend a helping hand to friends and family. Ronald is survived by a daughter, Debra (Steve) Roberts of Blue Springs, MO; a son, Bradley (Karin) Berg of Rochester; nine grandchildren, Michelle (Alan) McVay, Christa (Roger) Edwards, Sarah (Brandon) Lundy, Steve (Melinda) Berg, Cary (Heather) Berg, Anthony (Bethany) Berg, Katie (Bobbie) Van Horn, Jacob Berg, and Amanda Berg; 16 great grandchildren; one brother, Robert (Annette) Berg of Rochester; and two sisters, Beverly Gable of Fletcher, NC and Lorraine Berg of Hendersonville, NC.He was preceded in death by his wife of almost 60 years, Pat, on October 19, 2011; a son, Steve, on March 20, 2010 and a granddaughter, Breanna Berg; A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, July 28, 2012 at Autumn Ridge Church, 3611 Salem Rd SW, with the Rev. Bill Price officiating.Military Honors will be provided by the American Legion Post #92.A visitation will be an hour prior to the service at the church.
