Rochester-Funeral Services for Ronal Preacher Palmby, 66 who died suddenly at Olmsted Community Hospital on Friday,will be on Tuesday, September 27, 2011 at 10:00 A.M.At Ranfranz and Vine Funeral Home in Rochester. Burial will follow at Grandview Memorial Gardens with Military Honors by the Dover Eyota American Legion. Visitation will beon on Monday evening from 4:00-8:00 P.M. At Ranfranz and V ine Funeral Home and then on Tuseday from 9:00 A.M. Until the time of service. Memorials are requested to the Eagles Cancer Telethon Ron was born in Rochester, MN. July 18, 1945.He was raised on the family farm just north of Dover, Mn. And graduated from Dover Eyota High School in 1963.He enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and served in Viet Nam.After his discharge he moved to Rochester and worked for Roberts Food. On June 3, 1972 he marriedPeggy Svendsen, they were later divorced.On July 19, 1986 he married Mary Dankwort and they later divorced. In 1968 he began a career at the Rochester Post Office.He received a number of awards including Superior Letter Carrier, Outstanding Achievement, and 2500 Hours Sick Leave Club. Ron also volunteered in programs such as Carrier Alert and programs designed to raise Money for Cancer and Muscular Dystrophy. He retired in 2005 after 37 years.He currently worked part time at P.P.G. Supply Co.He was a member of St Francis Catholic Church, The Eyota American Legion, the VFW, Moose and he was a HOG member. He enjoyed being in the Rochesterfest Parades and holding many offices in Branch 440 Rochester Letter Carrier s Union. He enjoyed motocycles, cars, NASCAR, Music Cards, Western Movies, being around friends and loved ones an of couse always a good joke. He is survived by a special friend, Kim Mason; a daughter, Carmen Tapia (Gustavo) of Rochester; grandchildren, Damien, Selina, Ariana, Alejandro, Daniela and many nieces and nephews; brothers, Larry Palmby (Juanita) of Dover, MN, Bill Palmby (Rosie) of Brownsburg, IN; sisters, Mary Clemens (Don) of Eyota, MN and Elaine Rysted of Stewartville, MN; and sister-in-law, Sally Palmby.He was preceded by his parents, and 2 brothers, Tom and Bob.
