Ron Phelps

Funeral services for Ronald J. Phelps, 87, of Rochester will be at 11:00am on Tuesday, October 31, 2017 at the Byron United Methodist Church. Visitation will be on Monday, October 30, 2017 from 5:00pm - 7:00pm at Ranfranz and Vine Funeral Home and also one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be at Grandview Memorial Gardens. Ronald John Phelps was born on August 1, 1930 in Dodge County, Minnesota to Raymond and Ruth (Bradshaw) Phelps. He died on October 26, 2017 at the Seasons Hospice Cottage in Rochester. Ronald graduated from Byron High School. He served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict from 1952 - 1954. On September 2, 1950, he married Violet Quimby in Rochester. Ronald worked for Polly Meadows/Sampson Dairy for many years and later worked for Bill's Town and Country in Byron as dairy manager until he retired in 1988. He was a member of the Byron United Methodist Church and loved spending time with his children and grandchildren. He enjoyed camping, water skiing, riding mini bikes, bowling, hunting and fishing. Survivors include two daughters, Julie (Mark) McCoy of Rochester and Pamela (Gary) Lakner of Oronoco; three grandchildren, Chelsey, Brandon and Emma and two great grandchildren, Olivia and Sylvia. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, one brother and one sister. Memorials are suggested to American Cancer Society or Seasons Hospice.
