Rolf Axelson

Rolf Haugen Axelson, age 48 of Rochester passed away January 20, 2015 at St Marys Hospital in Rochester. Born March 12, 1966 in Rochester to Richard C. & June L. (Haugen) Axelson. He attended and graduated from Mayo High School, loved nature and being with people and easily made friends everywhere he went.He enjoyed horseshoes, bowling, cross country skiing, dancing, fishing, and was an avid MN Vikings fan.He worked for Ability Building Center for more than 25 years, and was involved with REM, who were like his second family, living in and involved with REM facilities for nearly 30 years. He participated in Special Olympics for many years, and was a member of Ascension Evangelical Lutheran Church in Rochester. Surviving are his parents, Richard & June Axelson of Park Rapids, MN, 4 siblings: Paul (Sue) Axelson of Pine Island, Jon (Kelly) Axelson of Nerstrand, Kirk (Brenda) Axelson of Plainview, and Kirsten (Perry) Pratschner of Fargo, ND.Eight nieces and nephews, Jessica, Katie, Sara, Erik, Brianne, Cody, Matthew, and Cole and a great nephew Noah and great niece Emmarose.He was preceded in death by his grandparents. A memorial visitation and reception will be held 5-8 PM Thursday, January 22, 2015 at Ranfranz & Vine Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers memorials are appreciated to either Ability Building Center or Special Olympics.
