Roger Louis Heggedahl

Roger Heggedahl, 37, of Rochester, died Sunday, January 12, 2014 at the Olmsted Community Hospital from complications of the flu and pneumonia. He was born July 20,1976 to Allan and Virginia Heggedahl. He lived his entire life at Hiawatha Homes. Roger was admitted to Hiawatha Homes when he was 4 months old.At that time his parents were told that they could not expect for Roger to live past the age of 25.This past July Roger turned 37.His parents would often tell Hiawatha Staff that this was a testament to the excellent care that Hiawatha provides to everyone. Roger had a lot of spunk and would greet his staff with happy vocalizations. Roger was a day brightener to his staff with his laughs and giggles.It was not unusual to see Roger scooting from place to place on his tumble form chair which was eventually increased to using a gait trainer.He would love to scoot in front of the dishwasher or the refrigerator where he could feel the warmth and vibrations.Roger enjoyed going on walks in the neighborhood, swimming, playing with small toys, sleeping, seeing his own reflection, and going out to eat.Roger liked to be in the community and enjoyed visiting friends, especially his friend Mo.Even if Mo snubbed him he was fine with hanging out with her housemates. Roger will be greatly missed by all. Roger is survived by his mom and dad and 7 siblings: Robert (Janice) Heggedahl of Abilene, Texas, Connie Dodson of Goehner, Nebraska, Danny (Sharon) Heggedahl of Floodwood, MN, Pam (Tom) Rasmussen of Kasson, MN, Charles Heggedahl of Grand Rapids, MN, Larry (Rhonda) Heggedahl of Floodwood, MN, and Tim Heggedahl of South Korea (Air Force) and special friends, Randy and Melody Finley and family of Kasson, MN. He is also survived by 21 nieces and nephews and 15 great nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held 1:00 PM Saturday, January 18,2014 at Ranfranz and Vine Funeral Homes5421 Royal Place NW, Rochester. Visitation will be held from12:30 PM until time of service. Rev.
