Roger Dwayne Bennett, age 88 of Rochester, passed away peacefully on January 31, 2024. He was born on February 7, 1935, in his hometown of Rochester, Minnesota, to proud parents Lloyd and Adeline (Breese) Bennett.
Roger was a dedicated and hardworking individual. After completing his high school education, Roger served in the United States Navy as a SeaBee from November 5, 1953, until his honorable discharge on September 18, 1957. After returning home, he embarked on a 37-year career with the City of Rochester.
He married Marcia Kay Lovejoy on July 3, 1958 in Rochester. They remained married for almost 53 years until her passing in 2011.
During his spare time, Roger enjoyed fishing, cycling, and golf. He took the most joy in his wood working and carving.
Roger will be deeply missed by those who knew and loved him. He is survived by his loving children, Daniel (Sherry) Bennett, Stephen (Mary) Bennett, and Patricia (Jay) DeSart; grandchildren, Christopher Bennett, Catherine Martin, Benjamin DeSart, Nicholas DeSart, and Preston Bennett; 9 great grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends, including his special companion Bogumila Dobrzynski.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Loren, sisters Geraldine, Merilyn, and Nancy; and his grandson Joshua.
Funeral Service will be held at 11:00AM on Wednesday, February 7, 2024 at Ranfranz and Vine Funeral Home, 5421 Royal Place NW, Rochester, MN 55901. Visitation will start at 10AM at the funeral home. Burial will take place in Oakwood Cemetery in Rochester.
