Roger A. Klunder died at age 72, peacefully at St. Mary's Hospital, Rochester, MN on Sunday, February 28, 2016. Roger was born in Brainerd, MN on January 28, 1944, to Harold and Josephine (Clay) Sweet. He was adopted as a young boy by Harvey and Katherine (Wood) Klunder. He graduated from Waverly-Shell Rock High School, Waverly, IA in 1962. He married the love of his life, Mary Mauldin, in Waukegan, Illinois on May 5, 1978. Roger was a hard worker all of his life, and had many different jobs; including owning remodeling and construction businesses. Roger was an incredibly generous and giving person with a heart of gold, and was loved by many. He had a wonderful sense of humor and loved to joke around and make people laugh. Roger had many hobbies, including bird-watching, playing cribbage, golfing, fishing, gardening, reading, cooking and baking. He loved to share his baked goods, canned goods and homemade beef jerky with everyone. He also loved country music, horses, animals and nature. Most of all, Roger loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He also loved to spend time with friends and neighbors and loved sharing his life stories, talking about his pride for his children and grandchildren, and joking about the history of his non-traditional family tree! Roger is survived by his wife, Mary Klunder; his sons, Kenneth (Jan) Klunder, and Jeffrey (Shirl) Klunder; his daughter, Katrina Klunder (Craig Schleusner); his daughter-in-law, Kristen Klunder; his brother, Samuel Sweet; his sisters, Betty Tyler, Beverly Miller, and Barbara (Terry) Ross; his grandchildren, Shalma, Taylor, Joshua, Tyler, Brienna Skye "BS", Hannah and Paige; and his great-grandchildren, Jayden, Arya, Zoey and MacKenzie; his beloved dog, Missy. He was preceded in death by his mothers, Josephine (Clay) Murphy and Katherine (Wood) Klunder; his fathers, Harold Sweet and Harvey Klunder; his son, Steven Klunder; his brother, Dennis Murphy; his step-father, Lawrence Murphy; and his brother-in-law, Ronald Miller. A memorial visitation will be held on Friday, March 4, 2016 from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at Ranfranz and Vine Funeral Homes 5421 Royal Place NW Rochester, MN 55901.
