AUNE Robert Bryce Aune, 75, of Rochester passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 8, 2017 at Samaritan Bethany. Robert Bryce Aune, known to most as Bob was born Michael Johnson on August 5, 1941 in Bemidji, MN to Mary Fallon Johnson and Fred Johnson. He was adopted by Raymond and Laura (Brye) Aune on September 9, 1948. Bob graduated from Rochester High School and also graduated from RCTC. He worked for the Rochester School system as a bus driver for over 30 years. Bob had a passion for music which started as a child when he learned to play the cello and piano. That passion became a major part of his life as he became a lead guitarist and vocalist in many area bands from the 1960s until 2010. He enjoyed performing country and bluegrass, and gospel music. He last performed as Sweetie Me, with his wife at nursing homes. Bob also enjoyed playing golf, bicycling, whittling, playing Texas Hold em among other strong interests. He was a member of the Rochester Male Chorus, and Homestead United Methodist Church. Bob was married and divorced twice before marrying Linda Kay Garrett on May 18, 1974. Bob is survived by his wife, Kay Aune; children, Carrie (Stephen) Byron of Fayetteville, AR, Deina (Scott) Shirmer of Roberts, WI, Barbara (Jason) Winget of River Falls, WI, Ray (Kelly) Aune of Rochester; grandchildren, Brandon Shirmer, Mandy Shirmer, Allie Erickson, and Vivian Baker; an uncle; numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. Bob is also survived by his adopted grandchildren, Robin Mountain, Mahala Shawl, Gillian Medicine Cloud, Gracelyn Medicine Cloud, Geordy Medicine Cloud, Cade Baker, Scobey John Baker and other extensive, extended family in the Baker, Shawl, Medicine Cloud families of Fort Peck Reservation in Montana and Wind River Reservation in Wyoming. Bob was preceded in death by his sister, Linda Kyyra; adopted grandson, Jimmy Mountain and his parents, Raymond and Laura Aune. A memorial service to celebrate Bobs life will be held 11:00 AM Tuesday, February 14, 2017 at Ranfranz and Vine Funeral Home, 5421 Royal Place NW, Rochester.
