ROCHESTER -Robert H. Knop, 95, died on Wednesday, March 7, 2012 at St. Marys Hospital in Rochester. Robert was born in Rib Lake, WI on August 8, 1916 to Carl and Bertha (Kalk) Knop.He attended Rib Lake High School in 1934.Robert served in the U.S. Army during WWII.He later married Ruth Meyer on May 27, 1950 at the Little Brown Church of Iowa. Robert and Ruth lived in the Rochester area and he retired from construction work in 1981.Robert was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church in Rochester.He enjoyed gardening, reading, crossword puzzles, and cards.Robert especially enjoyed his family, friends, and church. Robert is survived by a son Kirk Knop, of Oronoco, MN; a step daughter, Alice Morton, of Seaside, OR; a sister, Fran Clendenning, of Rib Lake, WI; and many nieces and nephews. Robert is preceded in death by his wife, Ruth; his parents; and four brothers. A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday, March 14, 2012 at Redeemer Lutheran Church, 869 7th Ave SE, with Rev. Dr. James Heining officiating.Visitation will be an hour prior to the service at the church.Interment will take place at Grandview Memorial Gardens. Memorials can be directed to Samaritan Bethany Foundation or Redeemer Lutheran Church.
