ROCHESTER, MINN:Robert C. Bob Marks, 82, died at his home on Friday, November 2, 2012, surrounded by his family. Robert Carl Marks was born on June 28, 1930 to James and Mabel (Haug) Marks in Solway, MN. He lived in the Bemidji area until his enlistment in the Navy. He served aboard the battleship USS Missouri and was a Korean War veteran. He was a member of the American Legion, VFW, and the Rochester Korean War Veterans Club, as well as, the USS Missouri Association. He married Mary Ellen Tolbert on March 12, 1955 in Washington D.C. They enjoyed fifty-seven years together. Bob worked in the Credit Union Industry and was manager of Mayo Clinic Credit Union for twenty-two years and retired in 1991. He served on the Board of Directors of the Minnesota League of Credit Unions and was past President of the Hiawatha Valley Chapter of Credit Unions. He was a member of Mount Olive Lutheran Church. Bob is survived by his wife Mary Marks, Rochester, MN, his two daughters, Jamie Marks Erickson, Detroit Lakes, MN and Patricia (Dana) Fogg, Rochester, MN; three grandchildren, Brandon and Bryan Fogg, Mariah Marks Erickson; two great grandchildren, Alyssa and Tyler; and his two sisters, Helen Johnson, Solway, MN and Irene Bjelajac, Minneapolis, MN. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother and two sisters. A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, November 9, 2012 at Mt. Olive Lutheran Church, Rochester, MN with Rev. Laura Sutherland officiating. Visitation will be one hour before the service at the church. A graveside service will be at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, November 9, 2012 in Oakwood cemetery with military honors. Memorials are suggested to the American Legion, Post 92, Rochester, MN.
