Robert Bob D. Jacobson, age 84 of Rochester, passed away Saturday, March 5th 2016 at Golden Living East in Rochester, MN. Robert D. Jacobson was born on Dec. 8, 1931, in rural Greenfield, MN to Everett and Leona (Lenz) Jacobson. Bob attended the Preston High School. In 1949 He enlisted into the United States Army and served during the Korean war and was a recipient of the Purple Heart. He married Imogene Hadoff on Oct. 6, 1951, at the Whalan Lutheran Church in Whalan.They moved to the Tower/Soudan area from 1957 to 1958, and later moved to Rochester in August 1958. Bob worked as an auto body mechanic at Clements Chevrolet. He retired in 1994. After retirement, he worked at the Blondell Motel as a clerk for 15 years. Bob enjoyed watching football games and horse racing. He had a great sense of humor and loved to be around people and was very proud to be a veteran. He loved to build things, garden and work on his yard but above all else he loved spending time with his family. He is survived by his children Debbie (Paul) Guiher of Richfield, Minn.,Scott (Debbie) Jacobson of Rochester, Cindy Heins of Rochester, Curtis Jacobson of Rochester; 10 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; his brother, Jerry (Virgene) Jacobson, Broadhead, WI.; his sister-in-law Hazel Jacobson and many nieces and nephews. Bob was preceded in death by his parents and his wife Imogene Jacobson and his brother Corliss Cork Jacobson. Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 9th, 2016, at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Karna Hagen Moskalik officiating. Entombment will be in Grandview Memorial Gardens Mausoleum. Visitation will be from5 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, March 8th, 2016, at Ranfranz and Vine Funeral Homes, and also one hour prior to the service Wednesday at the church. Memorials may be directed to the family, and the family will distribute to Bob's favorite charities.
