Rita Nolte

Rita L. Nolte, age 82, of Rochester, MN passed away peacefully at the Walt Home in Rochester, MN.

Rita Louise Nolte was born January 22, 1942 in Dighton, Kansas, the daughter of Warren and Verna (Troudt) Hallbick. She attended Lane County Community Elementary and High School, earned her RN certification with a Master's degree in secondary education at Fort Hays University. Rita taught nursing at Barton County Community College in Great Bend, Kansas for 15 years. She then moved to Dallas, Texas and worked in geriatric care; in 2001, she moved to Rochester, MN and worked as a hospice nurse for Season's Hospice and later worked at the Walt Home.

Rita enjoyed creating photo albums, crocheting and crafts, journaling her life experiences, bicycling and traveling with her best friend, Ellen and her close circle of friends. She attended Calvary Evangelical Free Church in Rochester, MN and sang in the Resounding Voices Choir for people experiencing mild memory impairment or dementia.

She is survived by her sons, Robert French of Arlington, Virginia and Jason (Nicole) French of Oronoco, MN; two grandsons, Jakob French and Maxon French; former daughter-in-law, Stephanie French; sister-in-law, Jennifer Kays along with her best friend, Ellen Stelling.

She was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Larry French and second husband, Thomas Nolte; and brother, Darrell Hallbick.

Funeral service will be held 2:00 PM Monday, December 9, 2024 at Calvary Evangelical Free Church 5500 25th Ave NW, Rochester, MN. Visitation will begin at 1:00 PM until the start of the service. Interment will be held at a later date at Oakwood Cemetery, Rochester, MN. Memorials may be directed to Seasons Hospice House.
