Richard (Dick) Tudor Jones, Rochester, MN, died at Seasons Hospice House on Saturday, November 13, 2021, from Alzheimer's disease at age 81. Dick was born June 17, 1940, in Miller, South Dakota, to Tudor and Margaret (Flint) Jones. Dick lived in several locations in South Dakota while growing up and graduated from high school in Armour, South Dakota. After graduating from college, he moved to Minnesota and began working at the Mayo Clinic and retired from there after 41 years of service. Dick married Sharon (Neilson) Jones at the American Lutheran Church in Avoca, MN, in 1964. They made their home in Rochester where they raised their three sons. He was a member of Bethel Lutheran Church and was faithful in helping at the Saturday evening service. After retirement, he and Sharon enjoyed bicycling and hiking in many parts of the U.S. and hiking the Superior Hiking Trail in the fall of the year. He continued to garden until recent years. He participated in sports and attended his children's activities and was an avid fan of Minnesota sports teams. He loved to camp and fish with family in northern Minnesota. He and Sharon enjoyed traveling with family and friends, as well as a trip with a Bethel Church group to Germany. Dick was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife, Sharon; sons, Robert (Mary), Bagley, MN, Randall (Susan), Rochester, MN and Daniel, LaCrosse, WI; three grandchildren, Grace, Lukas and Jackson of Bagley, MN; brothers, David (Kathy) and Catherine, McKenna, WA, Larry (Betty Lou), Swea City, IA. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, November 20, 2021, at 12:00 PM at Bethel Lutheran, 810 Third Ave SE, Rochester, MN, with visitation one hour prior to the service. Due to COVID-19, masks will be required and social distancing observed for the services. Burial will be at Oakwood East Cemetery in Rochester, MN.
