Richard was born April 27, 1961 in St. Paul, MN to Ruth and Zanti (Kangas) Squillace. He was 53 years old when he died on Sunday, August 3, 2014 at St. Marys Hospital after suffering a traumatic brain injury earlier in the week from a fall. Richard grew up in Rochester and graduated from John Marshall High School in 1979. He received his Bachelors Degree in Chemistry from the University of Wisconsin, La Crosse in 1982 and his Masters Degree in Metallurgical Engineering from the University of Nevada, Reno in 1985. As an employee of the Federal Government, he worked in various chemistry laboratories around the world. He had a deep love for travel and his job allowed him to work in California, Spain, Guam and New Jersey.Perhaps the highlight of his life consisted of a six month sabbatical when he traveled around the world.He also had interests in architecture, art, music and history. He will be remembered lovingly by his family as always being interesting and interested, curious of the world around him and the activities of others. Richard is survived by his parents Ruth and Zanti, brothers Dave (Diane), Paul (Sandy), and Steve (Kim) and sister, Karen (Chris DeMarino) and many nieces and nephews. Memorial service will be held on Wednesday, August 6, 2014 at 11 a.m. at Mount Olive Lutheran Church with a visitation one hour prior to the service.Private family burial will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to a charity of the donors choice.
