Richard Robert Francis

A memorial service for Richard R. Francis, 82 of Rochester, Minnesota will be at 4:00 PM on Saturday, April 11, 2015 at Bethel Lutheran Church. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial of his cremated remains will be at the Southeastern Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery in Preston, Minnesota at a later date. Richard Robert Francis was born on January 14, 1933 in Waseca Minnesota, son of Maurice and Bernice (Engebretson) Francis. He died on April 7, 2015 at Seasons Hospice. Richard graduated from Owatonna High School. He served in the United States Air Force from 1952 through 1956 (Korean War) and was a life member of the VFW. He retired from IBM Rochester after 32 years of service. Richard had a passion for fishing that stretched the path of his lifetime with many enjoyable times with friends along the way. In his retirement years, he took up the game of golf, and spent countless hours with friends and family chasing birdies. Survivors include a son, Michael (Lori) Francis of Minnetonka, Minnesota and a daughter, Debra (Cameron) Von Wald of Rochester, Minnesota: two grandchildren, Alexandra Von Wald of Winona, Minnesota and Christian Von Wald of Rochester, Minnesota; a brother John (Martha) Francis of Plymouth, Minnesota and a sister Julie (Doug) Huseby of Minnetonka, Minnesota. Memorials are suggested to Seasons Hospice.
