Richard James Polka

ROCHESTER -Richard J. Polka, 80, died on Monday, September 19, 2011 at his home in Rochester. Richard was born in Cleveland, OH on March 23, 1931 to James and Lena (Olson) Polka.Richard moved to Rochester with his mother in the early 1950's.He worked and later owned and operated Anderson's Radiator until his retirement in 2000.Richard liked spending time with his buddies and family and being outside.He also enjoyed watching baseball, tinkering with his train set, and classic cars. Richard is survived by four children, Gail (David) Arnold, of Stewartville, MN, Gwen (Mike) McCaulley, of Fountain, MN, Bob (Sherry) Polka, of Fridley, MN, and Fritz (special friend Wendy Richters) Polka, of Westminster, CO; and seven grandchildren, Ben, Laura, Alan, James, Alex, Sidney, and Dutch. Richard is preceded in death by his wife, Jeanne; his parents; and a brother, Roy. A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, September 23, 2011 at the Ranfranz and Vine Funeral Home.Visitation will be an hour prior to the service on Friday at the funeral home.
