Richard F. Podolske, 89, of Rochester, passed away with family by his side on Sunday, December 27, 2015 at St. Marys Hospital. Richard was born January 19, 1926 in Rochester to Frederick and Alma (Grutzmacher) Podolske. He was a graduate of Rochester High School. After graduating from high school, Richard went on to proudly serve his country as he joined the US Air Force during WWII. On September 18, 1948, in Rochester, Richard married June Johnson. Richard worked at IBM as a circuit analyst and retired after 30 years of service. He was an activemember of Hosanna Lutheran Church, Ducks Unlimited and was a past scout master. He enjoyed fishing, traveling, listening to music and hunting during the early years of his retirement. Richard participated at the Rochester Senior Center where he enjoyed playing bingo. He also enjoyed social activities at The Homestead where he resided until his recent illness. Richard is survived by his son, Jim Podolske of Nashua, NH; daughter-in-law, Susan Podolske of Henniker, NH; daughter, Gretchen Roesler of St. Paul, MN; brother, Chuck (Julie) Podolske of Rochester; sister, Margaret Nygaard of Austin, MN, and his close friend, Darlene Brandt of Rochester. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, June; 2 brothers, Don and Harold and by his parents, Frederick and Alma. A funeral service will be held 11:00AM Wednesday, December 30, 2015 at Hosanna Lutheran Church,2815 57th St. NW., Rochester. Visitation will be held 4:00-7:00PM Tuesday, December 29, 2015 at Ranfranz and Vine Funeral Homes, 5421 Royal Place NW., Rochester and from 10:00AM until the time of the service at the church. Rev. Bill Meiers will be officiating with interment at Grandview Memorial Gardens.
