Rebecca Sue Diskerud, 78, of Rochester, MN, died on February 16, 2022 at Seasons Hospice House in Rochester, MN. Rebecca was born August 4, 1943 in Shenandoah, IA to parents Willard and Phyllis (Lyden) Kempton. She attended Shenandoah High School and graduated in 1961. Rebecca began her career as a stewardess with United Airlines where she worked for 7 years. During that time, she met the love of her life, Rev. Dr. Warren Diskerud and the two of them were united in marriage on October 19, 1968 in Long Beach, CA. They had two children together, Erik and Ingrid. The couple then moved to Colorado as well as several other locations before settling in Grand Meadow, MN from 1983 to 1997. In 1997 they made their final move to Rochester, MN, where Rebecca decided to go back to school to earn her LPN, followed by her RN degree. She began working as a registered Nurse in 2001 and worked for Samaritan Bethany as well as Mayo Clinic. She especially enjoyed her time working as a vaccine research nurse at Mayo. Rebecca enjoyed singing and often sang solos for her church. She also loved spending time with her grandkids, camping, reading, and doing research. Rebecca was a very loving and caring person. She was known for her giant smile that could light up any room, and she will be greatly missed. Rebecca is survived by her children, Erik (Shaina) Diskerud of Mazeppa, MN, and Ingrid (Robert) Burkholder of Rochester, MN; Rondi Stebbins, of Atlanta, GA, and Amy (Scott) Roark, of Estero, FL; 8 grandchildren; sisters, Connie (Frank) Gross of MO, and Stephanie Parker, of AZ; and brother, Brian Kempton, of CO. She is preceded in death by her husband, Warren; and parents, Willard and Phyllis. A Memorial Service will be held 11:00 AM, Tuesday, February 22, 2022 at Ranfranz and Vine Funeral Homes (5421 Royal Pl NW, Rochester, MN 55901). Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Burial will be at Fort Snelling National Cemetery.
