Raymond Julius Glasrud, age 93, died peacefully on August 3, 2017, surrounded by his family at Samaritan Bethany in Rochester, Minnesota. Raymond was born on May 25, 1924, in Spring Grove, MN to the parents of Gunhild and Edwin Glasrud. Raymond married Darlene Nelson on October 7, 1951, at East Saint Olaf Church in Rock Dell. Raymond was a charter member of Gloria Dei Lutheran Church. He loved spending time with his family and enjoyed watching his children and grandchildren play sports (he always had a Werthers in his pocket to share). He also enjoyed watching the Twins. Ray was a kind hearted soul, enjoyed socializing and telling Ole and Lena jokes, everybody loved Raymond. Raymond farmed with his father for several years, he later worked as a well-driller and for the Rochester Buick dealership; but for most of his life he was plant operator for the Rochester Water Reclamation Plant, which he retired from in 1987. He is survived by his son Jeffrey (Leisa) Glasrud, and daughter-in-law Maureen (Mark) Kelley of Rochester; grandchildren Erin (Brian) Maddox of Helena, Missouri, Michelle (Brett) Plonsky of Cannon Falls, Melissa (Nick) Lukovsky of Duluth, Travis Glasrud of New Hope, Michael Kelley of Rochester, and great grandchildren, Emily and Marissa Maddox, and Mason Raymond Lukovsky. He is preceded in death by his wife, Darlene; son, Larry; and mother and father, Gunhild and Edwin Glasrud. Funeral services will be on Sunday, August 6, 2017, at 11:30 am at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, in Rochester, Minnesota. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Saturday, August 5, 2017, at Ranfranz Vine Funeral Home. Burial will take place at Oakwood Cemetery. The family would prefer memorials to Arbor Terrace, Seasons Hospice, or Gloria Dei Lutheran Church.
