Raymond C. Reinalda, age 92, of Rochester, MN was welcomed to Heaven on Thursday, November 27, 2014. Raymond Charles Reinalda was born on February 3, 1922 in Seward Township, in Southwestern Minnesota.He was the oldest child born to Klaus and Margaret Reinalda. Growing up Ray attended church in Worthington, at the church where his grandfather was one of the leaders and accepted Christ as His Lord and Savior at the age of 19.The church members were a tightknit group and Ray was very active with that group until the fall of 1942 when he was drafted into the United States Army and served with the 50th Engineers in the Pacific during World War II.When the war ended on September 2, 1945 the unit was sent to Korea.From there Ray was discharged and returned to work the family farm in Worthington. On June 22, 1948, at Lake Koronis Bible Camp, Raymond met Lucille Hermann.One year later the two were married at the Evangelical United Brethren Church in Rochester.On the occasion of their 50th wedding anniversary Ray shared this I remember as we escaped Lucille got her veil caught on a tree.It held us up only a few seconds and we were off and on our honeymoon. After their honeymoon, the couple returned to the farm in Worthington, and one year later, they welcomed the first of six children.The family moved around southern Minnesota finally settling in Rochester in 1964. Shortly after moving to Rochester Ray became a driver for Yellow Cab were he worked for many years. When he retired from Yellow Cab, Ray joked that he became a go-getter, when his wife needed a ride, he would go get her.He was devoted to her until her death in June of 2014. Ray is survived by his six children, Judith Reinalda of Rochester, Barbara Mohler of Rochester, Janet Kauphusman of Rochester, Kenneth (Terri) Reinalda of Florida, Ronald (Lori) Reinalda of Rochester and Linda (Dan) Gunderson; 14 grandchildren; 35 great grandchildren; and a sister, Margaret (Vernon) Gleason of Cleveland, TN.Ray is preceded in death by his bride of 65 years, Lucille Reinalda; a brother, Fred Reinalda and sister, Violet Reinalda. There will be a funeral service on Wednesday, December 3, 2014 at 10 a.m. at Ranfranz and Vine Funeral Homes with the Reverend Daniel Mohler and Reverend Timothy Graham officiating. Visitation will be held from 4:00-7:00 p.m. at Ranfranz and Vine Funeral Homes on Tuesday, December 2, 2014.Burial will take place at Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis, MN.
