Randy Rieken

February 24, 1956 — April 11, 2024

Randy lost his battle with cancer on April 11, 2024. He passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by his family.

Randy was born February 24, 1956 in Austin, MN to Lloyd and Helen Rieken. He spent much of his youth in Austin, before transitioning to Colorado, where he finished his high school years. Upon graduation he joined the Navy, where he proudly served his country for four years. After his years of service, he returned to Minnesota and eventually began his career with the City of Rochester as a Waste Water Operator.

In 1994 he married his current wife, Julie. They spent their early years together raising their family. Upon retiring, they traveled the states on their Harley Davidson, and recently traded the Harley for their cabin on the Lake.

Randy enjoyed hunting and fishing, especially with his favorite dog Bruiser. He also loved baseball, woodworking, snowmobiling, playing golf, and music. If he wasn't watching the Twins game or tinkering in the garage, you would find him listening to his favorite tunes with his guitar in hand, likely around the firepit, or at a concert. In fact, in his last years he dabbled in songwriting. He even wrote a song for his greatly loved grandchildren to make sure they remember always his profound love for them.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Lloyd and Helen, his infant brother Larry, and sister Lori. He is survived by his wife Julie; Sisters Linda (Dan) and Brenda; Children James (Erin), Amanda (Randy), and Victoria (Reed); Grandchildren Stella and Coralie; and many other cousins, nieces and nephews.

Randy was a proud patriot and lover of his country. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends. May he rest peacefully in the Kingdom of Heaven.
