Quentin Cliff Rucker, 91, of Oronoco died Saturday, September 11, 2010 at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester after a short illness.Quentin was born in Oronoco on March 29, 1919 to Alfred and Jessie (Cliff) Rucker. He attended Dist. 89 Coon Grove School in rural Oronoco.He was raised on his parent's farm and on September 21, 1941 he married Doris Crow. They bought a farm near his family and continued to work with his father and brother Kenneth. He later farmed with his son Jim who took over when he un-officially retired.Quentin was a director on the People's Co-op Power in Rochester from 1956-2001 and served as president of that board for several years. He was also a director on the Dairyland Power Co-op from 1973-1999.His farming and time on the Co-op boards were a great pride in his work life. He continued to help on the family farm until he was 85 years old and his health wouldn't allow it. Much to his dismay!He and Doris loved to travel and had the opportunity to enjoy vacationing in most of the United States as well as to new Zealand. He also enjoyed playing cards with neighbors and spending time with family, especially Christmas.The past 2 years he lived at Rehoboth Elderly Care in Oronoco where he was able to still enjoy watching the crops being planted each spring and be harvested each fall.He was a member of the Presbyterian Church in Oronoco. Serving as elder for many years.He is survived by his children, 2 sons, Jack (Gail) of Oronoco and Jim (Jeanie) of Oronoco; daughter, Janet (Del) Hague of Hager City, WI; eight grandchildren, Cindy, Ron, Ren, Chris, Reed, Jessica, Dawn and Adam; four step-grandchildren, Becky, Chris, Tammy and Hunter; eight great-grandchildren; two step-great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson. He was preceded in death by his wife, Doris; his parents; and his brother, Kenneth.Funeral services will be Thursday, September 16, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at the Presbyterian Church in Oronoco with the Reverend Dr. Gary Titusdahl officiating. Visitation will be from 4:00 - 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 15, 2010 at Ranfranz and Vine Funeral Homes and one hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday.
