Phyllis Ruth Lockwood, 90, of Rochester, passed away peacefully Tuesday, May 12, 2015 at Chosen Valley Care Center in Chatfield. Phyllis was born July 1, 1924 in Peterson, IA to David Roy and Agnes (Elliot) Stanford. She was a Larabee High School graduate. On June 25, 1942 Phyllis married Richard Lockwood. Phyllis worked at Crenlo and retired in 1989. She was a longtime member of Christ United Methodist Church in Rochester. Phyllis enjoyed sewing, quilting, camping, traveling and square dancing. She loved playing all types of card games and was a member of the Rochester Senior Center. Richard and Phyllis wintered for 30+ years in Pharr, TX where Phyllis was active in the Red Hat Society. Phyllis had a love of music and spending time with her children and grandchildren. She was always smiling and loved visiting with friends. Phyllis was a very caring woman. She was known for her big open heart and opened her home to many. Phyllis was the rock of her family and will be missed greatly. She is soaring on eagles wings with Richard now. Phyllis is survived by her daughters, Paula (Konnie) Vreeman of Fountain, Marilyn (Terry) Jacobson of Rochester, Charlene (Allan) Sackett of Rochester, Julie (Bill) Phillips of Fountain; 10 grandchildren, Brenda (Dan) Klingsporn, Kris (Christine) Vreeman, Mat Vreeman, Mandy (Keith) Bill, Duane Jacobson, Greg Hayes, Charlie Hayes, Andrea (Mike) Newton, Tom Hoiseth, Tim Hoiseth; 10 great-grandchildren; 2 great, great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Phyllis was preceded in death by her loving husband, Richard; son, Gordon Lockwood; twin grandsons, David and Daniel Hayes; brothers, Bob and Keith Stanford and sisters, Dorothea Jensen, Shirley Kearns and Darlyne Wright. A memorial service will be held 11:00 am Monday, May 18, 2015 at Ranfranz and Vine Funeral Homes, 5421 Royal Place NW., Rochester. Visitation will be held 2:00-5:00 PM Sunday, May 17, 2015 at the funeral home. Rev. Beth Perez will be officiating with inurnment at Grandview Memorial Gardens.
