Phyllis Marie (Davis) Seese, 83, of Rochester, MN.,formerly of Tucson, AZ., was called home by her Heavenly Father on August 5, 2013. Phyllis was born in Akron, OH., on June 14, 1930 to Ruby and Sam Davis. She graduated from Buchtel High School in 1948, and Massillon City Hospital School of Nursing in 1952. She spent her entire nursing career in the operating rooms of Cleveland Clinic, Mount Sinai (Cleveland, OH), Baylor Hospital (Dallas, TX), Saint Marys Hospital (San Diego, CA), Barberton Citizens Hospital (Barberton, OH), and as an operating room supervisor at Massillon City Hospital (Massillon, OH) After a whirlwind courtship, she married the love of her life, Marvin Dean Seese on February 25, 1966 in Akron, OH. She also gained an 18 year old daughter, Peggy. They resided in Akron, OH, until they retired in the mid 80's and moved to Tucson, AZ. They enjoyed 38 wonderful years of marriage, until Marvin passed away on January 9, 2004. Phyllis enjoyed life and was a very social and busy lady and enjoyed helping others however she could. She helped support the Ronald McDonald House, by collecting 100's of pop tabs. Hobbies included creating beautiful stained glass pieces, which she and Marvin turned into their own business, that she continued for many years after his death. Finally, she will probably be known best for her world famous ginger snap cookies, which she use to make by the 100's for the people who were experiencing side effects from their cancer treatments. Phyllis is survived by her daughter, Peggy (Seese) Carpenter; her grandchildren, Lisa (John) Kottschade and Michael (Brooke) Carpenter; her great-grandchildren, Brayden, Ian and Lincoln Kottschade and Madelyn Carpenter all of Rochester, MN. She is also survived by her nephew, Ken (Liz) Davis of England and two sisters-in-law, Nancy (Seese) Crabtree and June (Seese) Kitarich of Wadsworth, OH; nieces, nephews, cousins and many wonderful friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, her brother, Robert Davis and her sister, Betty (Davis) Harkins. A memorial service will be held 3:00pm Saturday, August 24, 2013 at Ranfranz and Vine Funeral Homes 5421 Royal Place NW, Rochester, MN 55901 with Father Joseph Fogal of Pax Christi Church officiating. Visitation will be held from 2:00pm until time of service at the funeral home. Inurnment will be at Chestnut Hill Memorial Park in Cuyahoga Falls, OH, at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in her memory to Seasons Hospice, Ronald McDonald House or Alzheimer's Association.
