Phyllis Joan Kunz

January 30, 1930 — September 21, 2016

Phyllis Joan Kunz, 86, passed away Wednesday, September 21, 2016, at Seasons Hospice House. Phyllis was born to Roy and Pearl Nordby on January 30, 1930, at Saint Marys Hospital in Rochester, Minnesota. After graduating from Rochester High School, she worked at Mayo Clinic as a desk float. On May 27, 1950, she married Stanley Allen Kunz and became a full-time mother and homemaker, living in Douglas, MN, for a few years prior to their move to Rochester. Her family enjoyed summer vacations at the cabin up north on Lake Shamineau for several years, where fun times were had by all, including her many relatives in that area. Phyllis enjoyed reading murder mysteries, doing crossword puzzles, watching TV, car trips along the Mississippi River, and most of all spending time with her family. Phyllis is survived by her three children, Cheryl (Reynaldo) Hernandez of Mantorville, Barbara Kunz of Rochester, and Dale (Rita) Kunz of Rochester; beloved granddaughters Laura Hernandez of Mantorville and Devin (Jonathan) Bushey of Rochester; and (yet to be born) great-grandson Jaxon Bushey. She is also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins, two sisters-in-law, and one brother-in-law. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and brothers Eugene Nordby and Ronald Nordby. A memorial service will take place at Ranfranz and Vine Funeral Homes on Thursday, September 29, at 7:00 p.m., with visitation one hour before the service. Interment will be in Oakwood Cemetery at a later date. Memorials are preferred to Seasons Hospice. Condolences for the family are welcome at ranfranzandvinefh.com.
