ROCHESTER -Phyllis A. Freiheit, 79, died on Tuesday, October 2, 2012 at her home surrounded by her family after a three year battle with cancer. Phyllis Ann Utecht was born in Owatonna, MN on October 8, 1932 to Carl and Olive (Stickley) Utecht. She graduated in 1950 from Medford High School.Phyllis married Robert Koch and was later divorced.She married Wally Freiheit on July 26, 1975.Phyllis was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church.She also was a charter member and past president of A.B.W.A. and belonged to the VFW and Eagles Auxiliaries.Phyllis enjoyed bowling, boating, camping, going South in the winter, but most of all spending time with family and friends. Phyllis is survived by her husband and best friend, Wally; three children, Karen Herron, of Rochester, Darrell (Mary Lou) Koch, of Chatfield, and Sue Koch, of Rochester; grandchildren, Jesse, Zack, and Linda Taft; and great granddaughters, Ashlynn and Chassity. Phyllis is preceded in death by her parents and a brother. A Memorial Service will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Saturday, October 6, 2012 at Trinity Lutheran Church, 222 6th Avenue SW, with Rev. William Otte officiating.Visitation will be from 4-7 P.M. on Friday, October 5, 2012 at Ranfranz and Vine Funeral Home and an hour prior to the service at the church.Burial will take place at Grandview Memorial Gardens.
