Paul Lehman

Rochester:Paul Lehman, 88, of Rochester, passed away on January 24, 2012 at St. Marys Hospital following a brief illness. Paul was born in Rochester on May 12, 1923.He graduated from Rochester High School in 1941.He served in the United States Army from 1942 to 1945 and was stationed in the Pacific.Paul married Arlene Anderson on December 17, 1949.Paul worked for the Rochester Post Bulletin Company as Composing Room Foreman for 36 years and retired in 1988. Paul was a member of Mayo Clinic Legacy, Rochester Quarterbacks' Club, Friends of Mayowood, Olmsted Historical Society, University of Minnesota Alumni Association, and Southeast Minnesota Hosta Society.He was a dedicated Minnesota sports fan and he loved to travel.He had a lifelong interest in space exploration; attending, reporting and photographing the launch of Apollo 11 (July 1969) and the first launch of the space shuttle (1981) Cape Canaveral, Florida for the Post Bulletin.He loved building projects, gardening and was an avid photographer.Paul loved the events that Rochester offered, rarely missing Thursdays on First.Paul was dedicated to his wife, Arlene, his family and many friends.Paul was particularly proud of his grandchildren and their accomplishments. Paul is survived by his wife, Arlene of Rochester; his sons, James Lehman (Beverly Spittell) of Rochester and Mark Lehman (Brigitte Brown) of Lakeville; three grandchildren, Emma Lehman of Boston, Massachusetts, Erin Lehman of Duluth, Minnesota and Beverly Lehman of Santa Barbara, California; nieces; nephews; and cousins.He was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers, Walter, Herbert, Willard, Harold and Robert; and five sisters, Leone (Throndson), Hazel (French), Thelma (Purvis), Dorothy (Neumann) and Mildred (Hayden). Paul will be dearly missed by his family and friends. Paul's body was cremated and his ashes will be interred at Oakwood cemetery at a later date.A celebration of Paul's life will occur on March 3, 2012 at the Doubletree Hotel in downtown Rochester beginning at 5:00 p.m.The family prefers memorials to the Ronald McDonald House (850 2nd Street SW Rochester, MN 55902)
