Paul Alan Hospers, 59, of Rochester, MN, passed away suddenly on July 19, 2017, at his home. Paul was born in Sodus, NY, on December 8, 1957. He graduated from Grand Haven High School, in Grand Haven, MI, and received a Bachelors of Business Administration degree, specializing in computer science, from Hope College in Holland, MI. Paul worked for IBM in Rochester, MN, right after graduating and for the next 37 years in various capacities involving computer software development. He enjoyed numerous sports including basketball, which he excelled in at High School and went on to play at the collegiate level. He also participated in baseball and enjoyed volleyball and golf later in life. He was actively involved in volunteering and a dedicated member of Church of the Savior. He had a deep faith which was evident in his walk with the Lord during his life here on earth. Paul is survived by his mother, Margaret Hospers, his sister Mary (Brad) Rogers; brother Mark (Jane) Hospers, and sister Ruth (Andy) Bowne and nieces and nephews Jennifer, Matthew, Michael, and Elizabeth. Paul was preceded in death by his father, Alvin Hospers The funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Wednesday, August 2, 2017 at the Church of the Savior, 971 16th St. SE, Rochester, MN 55904. Visitation will be held 5:00-7:00 PM Tuesday, August 1, 2017 at Ranfranz and Vine Funeral Home, 5421 Royal Place NW, Rochester and one hour prior to the service at the church. Pastor Mark Beernick will be officiating with interment at Pleasant Prairie Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Church of the Savior or to Hope College, Holland, MI.
