Patricia Merrill

Patricia "Patti" Ann Merrill, 78, of Rochester died on Monday, August 3, 2020 at Cottagewood Senior Communities. Patti was born on October 10, 1941 in Rochester, MN to Thomas and Pauline (Whitman) Pool. She graduated from John Marshall High school in 1959 and went on to attend Macalester College in St. Paul where she graduated in 1963. Patti also attended Mankato State University where she earned a degree in music. Patti married David Frederickson and later divorced. On October 4, 1980, Patti married Dr. Robert Merrill. The couple lived in various towns before moving back to Rochester in 2000. Patti wanted to be remembered as the Christmas Queen and was also known as Party Patti. She loved music and enjoyed quilting and being a grandma. She was passionate, caring, loving, and forgiving. Patti is survived by her husband, Dr. Robert Merrill of Rochester; children, Jon (Sue) Frederickson of Coeur d' Alene, Idaho, Kristin Frederickson of Roseville, MN, and Spencer Merrill of Hopkins, MN; one grandson, Sam Frederickson; siblings, Margaret "Peg" (Jack) Comstock of Savage, MN, Linda (David) Zinser of Pine Island, MN, and Mary Lou Stokes of Ham Lake, MN. She is preceded in death by her parents and sister, Kay Marie Pool. A celebration of Patti's life will be held at a later date. Burial will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 18, 2020 at Kabetogama Cemetery in Kabetogama, MN. Kabetogama was a place dear to Patti's heart where she enjoyed many summer weeks with her husband, Bob.
