Patricia M. Gastineau, age 92, of Rochester, died on Wednesday, October 25, 2017, at the Charter House in Rochester. She was born Patricia Lou Murphey on January 23, 1925 to Ben and Gladys (Freeze) Murphey in Missoula, Montana. She attended the public schools in Missoula and graduated from the University of Montana in 1947 with a bachelor's degree in bacteriology. At the university she was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority and Mortar Board. She then spent a year becoming qualified as a medical technologist in Tacoma, Washington. She was supervisor in the parasitology laboratory at Mayo Clinic 1948 to 1951. She married Clifford Gastineau March 16, 1951. During her years as a homemaker she was a member of the boards of directors of the Civic League Nursery and of Aldrich Memorial Nursery School as well as serving on the Rochester Charter Commission. In 1967, she was president of the Friends of the Library. She was a member of P.E.O. and enjoyed reading, needle pointing and playing bridge. She is survived by her husband, Clifford; two sons, Dennis A. Gastineau (Ann) of Phoenix, AZ and John E. (Robyn) Gastineau of Portland, OR; four grandchildren; one great-grandchild; brother, Byron Murphey of Albuquerque, NM and sister Mary Alice Hall of Redmond, WA. She was preceded in death by her, sister Dorothy Ann Trosper of St. Regis, MT A memorial service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, November 10, 2017 at First Presbyterian Church in Rochester, 512 3rd Street SW in Rochester. Inurnment will be placed in the columbarium at the First Presbyterian Church during a private family ceremony. Memorials may be directed to Mayo Foundation or to the First Presbyterian Church.
