Patricia Anne Alcott, 84, of Rochester, passed away peacefully from Alzheimer's disease on Thursday, July 22, 2021 at The Homestead, surrounded by her family. Patricia was born June 21, 1937 in Dodge Center, MN. She was the daughter of Robert and Delores (Sorensen) Jensen. Patricia spent her early days growing up in Rochester, attending Folwell Elementary where she discovered her passion and talent for music. They later moved to Dodge Center, MN where Patricia spent most of her childhood and graduated from Dodge Center High School. She married David Beaver when she was 16 years old, and they later divorced. In 1970, Patricia went on to obtain her Bachelor's Degree in Music Education from Winona State University and later received her Master's degree in Professional Development in Psychology while she was the executive director with SEMAC (Southeastern Minnesota Arts Council). Music was always a passion of Patricia's but it even came second to her love of dogs, especially Golden Retrievers. Patricia taught piano all her life and loved to listen to classical music. She loved spending time in her flower gardens but most of all, she loved spending time with her grandchildren. Work was a very large part of Patricia's life. She was always advocating for the arts and enjoyed being part of the community and giving back to the community. Christmas was her favorite holiday and brought her so much joy since it was the season of giving to others. Patricia was a member of the Congregational Church UCC and also a recipient of the Rochester Mayoral Medal of Honor. Patricia is survived by her children, Timothy (Marianne) Beaver of Loveland, CO, Amy (Edwin Henneken) Martin of Scituate, MA and Chris Alcott of Rochester; three grandchildren, Aynsley Jones, Ian Jones, and Tae Alcott; four great-grandchildren, Alana, Audrey, Austin and Casey Jones and former spouse, David (Sandra) Beaver. Patricia was preceded in death by her daughter, Laurel; brother, Robert Jensen and by her parents. A private family service will be held at a later date. Inurnment will be at Wildwood Cemetery in Wasioja, MN. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association or to Paws and Claws.
