Oliver Herman, Jr.

Oliver "Ollie" H. Herman, Jr., 73 of Rochester, MN died Friday, June 1, 2018 at Saint Marys Hospital. Oliver Henry Herman, Jr. was born May 1, 1945 to Oliver H. Herman, Sr. and Marie (Hume) Herman in Charles City, Iowa. He attended country school in LeRoy, MN and graduated from Princeton, MN in 1963. He went to the MN School of Business in Minneapolis, MN. He worked for EK Williams in Minnetonka before moving to Rochester in 1968. On July 27, 1968 he married Collette Schertz in Truesdale, IA. The couple lived and raised their family in Rochester. Oliver continued working for EK Williams in Rochester before starting Management Record Keeping Company in Rochester in 2002 and was still currently working. Oliver was an avid fisherman. He enjoyed his breakfast group at Grandma's Kitchen and playing cards. He loved teaching his grandchildren fishing and boating. He will be remembered as a loving son, husband, brother, father, grandfather, good friend, and neighbor. Oliver is survived by his wife, Collette of Rochester; daughter, Lynn (Shawn) LaRose of Saint Paul, MN; son, Gregory (Jennifer) Herman of Rochester; five grandchildren, Tommy, Tony, Aaron, Alex and Abby; his siblings, Gloria Bromberg of Princeton, MN, Duane (Sylvia) Herman of Leesburg, FL and Marilyn (Lanny) Henrichs of Princeton, MN; and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents. A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 7, 2018 at Rochester Assembly Church (4240 18th Avenue NW). A visitation will be held from 4:00-8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 6, 2018 at Ranfranz and Vine Funeral Homes and one hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday. Burial will take place at Oakwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be directed to Fishing for Life or Mayo Clinic Cardio and Diabetic Research.
