Norman R. Grimm

Norman Robert Grimm, 83, of Rochester, passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 8, 2016 at The Mayo Clinic St. Marys campus. Norman was born December 19, 1932 in Douglas, MN to Arthur and Alvina (Schauer) Grimm. He was a 1950 graduate of Rochester High School. Norman united in marriage with Berneice Flaaen on July 1, 1953 in Zumbrota, MN. He worked at Kruse Lumber for several years before spending the rest of his career at IBM working in Development. Norman retired from IBM in 1991 after 30 plus years of service. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, proudly serving his country from 1955 until 1957. Norman enjoyed wood carving, woodworking, cabinet making, playing cards, dancing and spending time on his hobby farm. Norman and Berneice loved camping and being members of the Rochester Roamers Camping club. He loved traveling to Europe, Alaska and Norway. Norman was a very patient, intelligent and kind man. He was quite the handy man and could fix anything. Norman was a lifelong member of Trinity Lutheran Church and a member of the Kasson American Legion. He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Berneice; children, Nancy (Rick Stori) Fritsch of Rochester, Jodine Jody Grimm of Adams, MN; grandchildren, Chris (Laura) Fritsch of Rochester, Sarah (Justin) Malecha of Zumbrota, MN, Ben (Michelle) Stori of Spring Lake Park, MN, Brandon (Casey) Stori of Eagle Lake, MN; great-grandchildren, Landon, Madison, Grayson, Mason, Carson, Lincoln, Camden, Braylon and his brother, Richard (Verleine) Grimm of Rochester. Norman was preceded in death by his son, Brian and brother, Willard. A funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday, December 16, 2016 at Trinity Lutheran Church, 222 6th Ave. SW, Rochester with the Rev. Joel Haak officiating. Visitation will be held 5:00-8:00 p.m. Thursday, December 15, 2016 at Ranfranz and Vine Funeral Homes, 5421 Royal Place NW, Rochester and one hour prior to the service at the church.
