Norma Jean Prince passed away at her home at Madonna Meadows Assisted Living in Rochester, MN on Saturday, August 26, 2017 at the age of 85.Norma was born on April 20, 1932 in Fulda, MN.She was the eldest daughter of Delia and Carson Ommen. She graduated from Fulda High School and attended Kahler School of Nursing.Before marrying, she worked at Mayo Clinic.On September 5, 1953, Norma married Leroy Prince in Fulda, MN.Norma lived with her husband Leroy and six children on a farm near Oxbow Park for forty-nine years. There she enjoyed flower gardening and even won a Grand Champion Ribbon for her Bougainvillea plant. She was an avid bird watcher.Norma and Leroy taught ballroom dancing through the Rochester Park and Rec.Norma enjoyed sewing for her family.She was also known for being a great cook.Norma and Leroy both were involved in the Purple Foot Wine Club for many years. Norma worked at the Mayo Clinic for 19 years in the Medical Information Department.After retiring, she enjoyed traveling. For two years Norma and Leroy were snowbirds in Apache Junction, AZ. She is survived by her children; Sherri (David) Sovinski of Chatfield, MN, Daniel (Marlene) Prince of Byron, MN, Laurie Prince of Rochester, MN, Lisa (Ladd) Baldus of Byron, MN, Michelle (Joe) Kes-Prince of Rochester, MN, and Eric Prince of Rochester, MN; many grandchildren and great grandchildren; and her siblings; Charlene (Bill) Eldridge, Federal Way, WA, Patricia (Lou) Nichoui, Hayward, CA, Charles Ommen, Charleston, SC. Norma is preceded in death by her husband Leroy, a sister Shirley Beckmann, and her parents. A memorial service will be held at Autumn Ridge Church - Timothy Chapel at 3:00 PM Friday, September 1, 2017.Visitation will be an hour prior to the service at the church.
