Nile C. Stafford

Nile Stafford, 76, of Rochester, MN, passed away on September 17, 2018, at the Season's Hospice House in Rochester, MN. Nile was born on April 10, 1942, in rural Lyon County in Southwestern, MN, to Walter (Lee) Edna Stafford. On February 17, 1962, Nile married Janet (Paul) from Tyler, MN, and together they had two children. Nile worked for Honeywell in the early 1960's and then was self employed for the rest of his life in various businesses. In his retirement he truly enjoyed "putting in his time" with his Greenway Cenex family. Nile is survived by his significant other, Genny Janikowski of 21 ½ years and their beloved dog, Sam; daughter, Janine (David) Evenson of Orono, MN, and son, Jed (Carla) Stafford of Hilton Head Island, SC; a gift of a "special son" through Janet Mark (Nan) Severtson of Stewartville, MN; three grandchildren, Jana (Cody) Kreatz, Haley and Adam Stafford; two great-grandchildren, Elsie and Kellen Kreatz. He is also survived by his brothers, Glenn (Sherrie) Stafford of Missouri and Daryl Stafford of MN. Nile was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Melvin; wife Janet, who died on May 3, 1991; grandson, Jake Malecha who died on September 28, 2007 and son-in-law, David Evenson who died on March 7, 2016.
