Nellie Adelia Galley, 83, of Pine Island, passed away peacefully on Monday, October 19, 2020 at Pine Haven Care Center. Nellie was born March 4, 1937 in Red Lake County, MN to John and Ruby (Wright) Westlake. After graduating from high school, Nellie went on to work various jobs to support and care for her family. In October of 1959, Nellie married James Bruggeman and they later divorced. On December 7, 1979, Nellie married Wayne Galley. She loved cooking, sewing, canning and playing cards, especially poker. Nellie enjoyed watching the Minnesota Twins and the North Stars. She also enjoyed dancing, and Wayne and Nellie spent many evenings dancing at Lefty's in Austin. Above all, family meant everything to Nellie. Nellie is survived by her daughters, Valerie (Mark) Comstock of West Concord, MN, Tracey Sharp of Pine Island, MN; step-children, Linda (Ron) Biebighauser of Nisswa, MN, Bruce (Carie) Galley of Brainerd, MN, and Kim (Dan) Marquardt of Dodge Center, MN. Nellie is also survived by her grandchildren, Hannah, Quinn, Nick, Shelby, Joel, Brianna, Justin, Casey, Andy, Zach, and Ashley; several great-grandchildren; sisters, Ruthella (Vince) Austad, Phyllis Rystad; brothers, Ole Westlake, John "Charlie" Westlake, Lewis (Diane) Westlake and sister-in-law, Marybeth Westlake. Nellie was preceded in death by her husband, Wayne; son, Jim Bruggeman; brothers, George and Roy; sisters, Annie Van Den Einde and Nell Westlake and by her parents, John and Ruby. A memorial service will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday, October 24, 2020 at Ranfranz and Vine Funeral Home, 5421 Royal Place NW, Rochester, MN, where the service will be livestreamed on the Ranfranz and Vine Facebook page. Visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. until time of the service. Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery in Dodge Center at a later date. Due to Covid-19, masks will be required and social distancing will be observed. Ranfranz and Vine Funeral Home is honored to be serving the Galley family.
