ROCHESTER - Neal C. Lang, 73, died on Tuesday, March 29, 2011 at his home in Rochester. Neal was born in Winona, MN on October 18, 1937 to Carl and Leora (Ritcher) Lang. He graduated from Winona State and then served in the U.S. Navy. Neal married Mary Jo Berger on December 28, 1964 in Rochester. He was a teacher for 32 years for the Rochester Public Schools, working at Kellogg and John Adams. Neal was a private man with a very kind and gentle spirit. He enjoyed the simple pleasures of life. Neal especially enjoyed his daily walks with dogs Ellie and Sam and spending time with his granddog, Boris. He also enjoyed watching sports and Mary Jo, son Mark, and Neal were Vikings season ticket holders. Neal and Mary Jo were also members of the Rochester Civic Theatre. Neal is survived by his wife of 46 years, Mary Jo; a son, Mark Lang, of Eagan, MN; and a brother, Bergie (Mary Jo) Lang, of Savage, MN; and several nieces and nephews.Neal is preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Leane and Sharon Gunhus.A Visitation will be held from 5-7 P.M. on Friday, April 8, 2011 at Ranfranz and Vine Funeral Home. A private family service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be directed to the Chapel at St. Marys Hospital or Paws and Claws.
