Nancy Young went to be with Jesus on April 11th, 2016. She died from aggressive Melanoma Cancer. Nancy was born to Theodore "Ted" and Phyllis Lutter October 23, 1939 in Mankato, MN. Nancy moved to Rochester, MN with her parents when she was 5 years old. She graduated from Rochester High School in 1957 and then attended Mankato State College where she majored in Biology. That's when she met Russell Young. They met in the Human Anatomy Lab. Russ would like to tease her by telling people where they met! Russ and Nancy married on December 16, 1961. Nancy's first job after college graduation was teaching high school biology at Grove City, MN High School. She found out that she didn't like teaching and returned to Rochester. She then worked at Mayo Clinic in the microbiology lab for two years. After which she became a full-time mother for several years when her two daughters were young. In 1973 she went to work for AMPI and their laboratory where she worked for 27 years. Russ and Nancy loved to travel, visiting all of the lower 48 states. They also enjoyed several cruises and downhill skiing, even after having knee replacement. Nancy loved her church, Autumn Ridge. She helped several years with children's bible study and the last few years with women's bible study. She truly loved studying the bible. Nancy was preceded in death by her parents, and sisters Marion Lutter and Melinda "Din" Lutter. She is survived by her loving husband Russ Young, Rochester; two daughters, April (Les) Rostad, Rochester, Amy (Melvin) Church, Owatonna; three brothers Myron Lutter, Minneapolis, Sidney Lutter, Rochester, Wayne Lutter, Rochester; two sisters Martha (Chris) Carter, Plainview, Julie (Steve) Birkemeyer, Duluth; and five grandchildren Sonja Rostad, Minneapolis, Bjorn Rostad, Rochester, Freyja Rostad, Rochester, Veronica Church, Owatonna, Nolan Church, Owatonna. Nancy was extremely generous with her time and taking care of her family. She will be missed by all. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, April 15, 2016 at Autumn Ridge Church (3611 Salem Road SW).Visitation will be from 4:00-7:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 14, 2016 at Ranfranz and Vine Funeral Homes and one hour prior to the service on Friday at the church.Burial will take place at Grandview memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Salvation Army and Hematology Research at the Mayo Clinic.
