Nancy Lee Stanley, 84, of Rochester, passed away on December 18, 2019 at St. Marys Hospital. Nancy was born December 7, 1935 in Lancaster, WI to Levi and Mabel (Flaherty) Winfrey. She graduated from Wapello High School and went on to obtain her nursing degree from Hamline University and her B.S. from the College of St. Francis in 1988. On May 17, 1958 in Mt Union, IA, Nancy married Richard Stanley. Nancy was very passionate about nursing. She started the first parish nurse program at Redeemer Lutheran Church, opened the first recovery room at Midway Hospital, taught nursing classes at the vocational college and was the Director of Nursing at both Samaritan Bethany and the Charter House. Nancy also enjoyed volunteering at hospice, knitting 100's of prayer shawls over the past few years, volunteering at Mayo Clinic, and building churches as part of Laborers for Christ. Nancy was a great baker, cake decorator and was a fantastic seamstress. She loved spending time at the family cabin, fishing and taking nature walks. She was a thoughtful and sincere woman, always giving of herself to others. She was a wonderful caregiver and a very devoted grandmother. Nancy is survived by her loving husband of 61 years, Richard; children, LeeAnn (Tom) Holzhauer of Mt. Vernon, IL, Mark (Nancy) Stanley of Rochester, Ed (Beth) Stanley of Rochester and three grandchildren, Jack, Nick and Sam. Nancy was preceded in death by her three brothers and by her parents. A funeral to celebrate Nancy's life will be held 1:00 p.m. Monday, December 23, 2019 at Emmanuel Lutheran Church, 3819 18th Ave. NW, Rochester MN. (Oasis Church). Visitation will be held 1:00-4:00 p.m. Sunday, December 22, 2019 at Ranfranz and Vine Funeral Home, 5421 Royal Place NW, Rochester and one hour prior to the service at the church. Rev. David Steffenson will be officiating with interment at Oronoco Cemetery.
