Nancy E. McAlpine, 86, of Rochester, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family on Monday, January 30, 2017, at The Mayo Clinic, St. Marys Campus. Nancy was born January 22, 1931, in St. Paul, MN to Norman and Bernice (Fiebig) Dybvig. She was a graduate of Sheldon High School in Sheldon, IA. On March 15, 1952, Nancy married Robert McAlpine at St. Patricks Catholic Church in Sheldon, IA. Nancy was active in numerous prayer groups and enjoyed volunteering in earlier years at church and the local schools. Nancy enjoyed stamping, cooking, sharing and collecting recipes, and entertaining friends and family. She was a faithful, selfless, enthusiastic and uplifting woman. Nancy had a smile that could light up a room and she valued and appreciated friendships she made throughout her life. She was caring, compassionate, loved by all who knew her and was truly one in a million. Above all, Nancy was a devoted wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother and great-grandmother. She loved the color pink and spending time at Lake Okoboji making memories with her family. Nancy is survived by her loving husband of 65 years, Bob; children, Timothy (Jan) of Townsend, MT, Mary (Tim) Merrill of Rochester, MN, Anne (Bill) Lund of Rochester, MN, Tom (Sheila) of White Bear Lake, MN, Maureen Mo Nancy McAlpine of Onalaska, WI, Steve (Holly) of Boston, MA; 14 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. Nancy was preceded in death by her parents, Norman and Bernice. A Mass of Christian burial will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, February 4, 2017 at Pax Christi Catholic Church, 4135 18th Ave. NW, Rochester. Visitation will be held 5:00-8:00 PM Friday, February 3, 2017 at Ranfranz and Vine Funeral Homes, 5421 Royal Place NW, Rochester and one hour prior to the service at the church. Celebrant will be Father Joseph Fogal with Father Harry McAlpine as the Concelebrant. Interment will be at Calvary Cemetery. To celebrate Nancys passion for pink, those who attend the services are encouraged to wear something pink.
