ROCHESTER:MN: Murray Frego, age 88, passed away on July 7, 2012 at St. Marys Hospital after a long battle with cancer. Mr. Frego was born on October 19, 1923 in Fountain, MN to Arthur and Lucy (Rank) Frego. He enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1942, serving with the 51st General Hospital in New Guinea. He was later assigned to the 42nd General Hospital and assisted with the liberation of POW's in Tokyo. He was honorably discharged in 1946. He married Rosemary Vailencour on April 26, 1952. He worked 36 years for Mayo Clinic before retiring as a credit counselor in December 1983. He was a 50 year member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles of Rochester, MN; a lifetime member of the Loyal Order of Moose of St. Charles, MN and a 43 year member of the American Legion of St. Charles, MN. He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Rosemary; four daughters, Kathryn Frego of Maple Grove, MN, Nancy (Greg) Miller of Fort Dodge, IA, Ellen Frego of Minneapolis, MN, Cynthia Frego of Rochester, MN; one granddaughter, Rebecca (Christofer) Summers of Charles City, IA; three great-grandsons, Michael, Allan, Johnathon; two nephews, Leonard (Linda) McIntyre of Rochester, MN, Ronald (Rebecca) Frego of Stacy, MN and one niece, Carol Blowers of Eau Claire, WI. Murray was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Lauren and Lyle and by two sisters, Lucille McIntyre and Idella Marie. A funeral service will be held 1:00 PM Saturday, July 14, 2012 at Saint Pius X Catholic Church, 1315 12th Ave. NW, Rochester, MN. Visitation will be held 5:00-8:00 PM Friday, July 13, 2012 at Ranfranz and Vine Funeral Home, 5421 Royal Place NW, Rochester, MN and one hour prior to the service at the church.
