In His grace and mercy, the Lord called the soul of His servant Muriel (Mur) A. Kositzke, age 84, to Himself on Saturday, March 5, 2016.She died at home at Shorewood Commons in Rochester, MN, after a short battle with cancer. Mur was born May 31, 1931, in Appleton, Wisconsin, the daughter of the late Raymond F. Haase and Lucille (Kositzke) Haase.She was baptized into faith with Christ on July 5, 1931, at St. Paul Lutheran in Appleton, and confirmed her faith there on March 25, 1945.She married James O. Kositzke on July 16, 1955, at St. Paul Lutheran.She was a Physical Education teacher in several Wisconsin cities before and after being married. Mur lived most of her life in Appleton, a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church and Faith Lutheran Church.She was active in church and community organizations, assuming leadership roles in some of them.She loved to golf and work in the yard, and she was in a monthly dance club and weekly couples golf league with husband Jim.Mur and Jim moved to Rochester in 1999, becoming residents at Shorewood Senior Campus and members of Gloria Dei Lutheran Church.They enjoyed following the activities of their children and grandchildren either locally or across the miles, and enjoyed the community they found at Shorewood.Mur was an avid Twins fan and watcher of sports on TV. Mur is survived by son Michael (Carrie) of Chino Valley, AZ; daughter Julie Stevens (Mark) and grandchildren Sarah and Ben of Rochester; sister-in-law Audrey Haase; and two nieces and a nephew.She was preceded in death by husband Jim, parents, brother Daniel R. Haase, grandson Matthew Kositzke, and nephew Daniel L. Haase. Murs family extends profound thanks to the staff at Shorewood Commons and Comfort Home Health for the many kindnesses and wonderful care that Mur received over the years, and to Seasons Hospice, especially Megan and Jody, for their help and care during Murs final weeks. Murs funeral will be held at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church in Rochester on Thursday, March 10, 2016, at 11:00 am with the Rev. Dr. Charles Ortloff officiating.Friends may greet the family beginning at 10:00 am.In lieu of flowers, memorials can be directed to Gloria Dei Lutheran Church in Rochester or to Seasons Hospice in Rochester.
