Mildred Elizabeth Richter "Millie", 91 of Rochester, passed away peacefully on September 20, 2018 at The Rochester Living and Rehabilitation Center. Millie was born October 21, 1926 in Stockton, MN to Bernhardt "Ben" and Amanda (Richter) Block. She was a 1946 graduate of St. Charles High School and a 1947 graduate of the Mankato Beauty College. Millie worked as a hairdresser at The Kahler before marrying Charles Richter on August 28, 1948 in Lewiston, MN. When she returned to work, Millie worked as a secretary in the dietary department at Methodist Hospital before retiring after 30 years of service. She loved cooking and entertaining friends and family. She was a meticulous homemaker, enjoyed flower gardening, sewing and needlework. Millie and Charles enjoyed spending time traveling together, especially their trip to Europe and The White House. Millie loved to dress up at Halloween and was known for her great sense of humor. She was a member of Christ United Methodist Church, where she was very active in the church and her church circles. She is survived by her loving husband of 70 years, Charles; children, Scott (Renee) Richter of Pine Island, MN, Linda Richter of Coon Rapids, MN; grandchildren, Nicole (Mark) Kujath of Kasson, MN and Travis (Emily) Richter of Rochester, MN; 4 great-grandchildren, Markayla, Kyler, Aiden and Ian Kujath; sisters, Elsie Heim and Margaret Schumann and brothers, Ted, Elmer and Robert Block. Millie was preceded in death by a brother, Albert Block; 2 sisters, Martha Perry and Minnie Wright and by her parents. A memorial service will be held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, October 2, 2018 at Ranfranz and Vine Funeral Homes, 5421 Royal Place NW, Rochester with The Rev. Nancy Wheeler Handlon officiating. Visitation will be held from 4:00-7:00 p.m. Monday, October 1, 2018 at the funeral home and one hour prior to the service on Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Hillside Cemetery in St. Charles. Memorial contributions may be made to Christ United Methodist Church.
