ROCHESTER, MN:Mildred I. Putnam, 97, died Friday, February 15, 2013 at Samaritan Bethany Home on 8th in Rochester. Mildred Ivalene Hoven was born June 18, 1915 to Martin and Alma (Loken) Hoven in rural Roscoe Township, Goodhue County. She was a World War II Army Veteran and later worked for Waters Conley for many years. Mildred married Alfred Monson in Rochester and he died in 1976.She later married Hawley Putnam who died in 2006. Mildred loved spending time with her grandchildren, preparing meals for her family and friends, gardening, sewing and word puzzles. She especially enjoyed her dogs and had a kind heart for all animals. Mildred is survived by her two daughters, LaVonne (Jim) Wibbens, Rochester, MN and Linda (Ron) White, Rochester, MN; four grandchildren: Tayte (Jessica) Peterson, Jamin (Heather) Peterson, Victor Villar, and Joe (Conny) Villar and five great grandchildren: Justin, Jacob and Landry Peterson, and Ashley and Hailey Villar. She was preceded in death by her parents, her first husband Alfred Monson, her second husband Hawley Putnam and two brothers Orrin and Daniel Hoven. A private family service will be held at Ranfranz and Vine Funeral Home with the burial in Oakwood Cemetery on Monday, February 18. Memorials are suggested to Safe Haven or Paws and Claws. The family would like to give a special thank you to the staff on the 2nd floor at Samaritan Bethany for the excellent care she received.
