Mille Leslie, 88, passed from this world Monday, July 28, 2014 from congestive heart failure at Meadow Lake Assisted Living Center in Rochester, MN.Visitation will be held Thursday, July 31, 2014 from 5:00-8:00 p.m. at Ranfranz and Vine Funeral Homes in Rochester, MN and also 1 hour prior to the funeral at the church. Funeral services will be held Friday, August 1, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at United Methodist Church in Byron, MN. with Reverend Beth Perez officiating.A graveside service will be held in Luverne, MN at Maplewood Cemetery on Saturday, August 2, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. She was born December 4, 1925 to Elmer and Mary Young in Faribault, MN.She graduated from Medford High School in Medford, MN.Millie wrote letters to Hugh Leslie while he was in the United States Army when he was serving with her brother, Harold Young.They met in person when she arrived by train in Faribault, MN and Hugh said I am going to marry that girl! They were united in marriage six months later.Millie and Hugh were married 68 years. Millie was very independent!Millie and a girlfriend took a train to Des Moines, IA from Faribault, MN after they graduated from High School.They did not have jobs or a place to live, but that did not stop them from a great adventure! Millie was one of a few women in her day who worked outside the home.She had jobs at Goehles hardware store and Dr. Johnsons dental office in Luverne, MN and at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN. During their marriage they lived in Luverne, Byron and Rochester. The family would like to extend a very special thank you to Pat Nelson and Kathy Bond of Byron and Chris Miller of Rochester for their ongoing, attentive and gentle care.We will be forever grateful. Millie is preceded in death by her parents, Elmer and Mary Young; a brother, Harold Young; and a grandson, Craig Leslie.She is survived by her husband, Hugh Leslie of Rochester; three children, Sharon (Allen) Gilman of Rochester, Rod (Patti) Leslie of Minneapolis, Steven Leslie of Mankato; four grandchildren, Tara (Terry) Johnson of Cleveland, MN, Pete (Elizabeth) Gilman of Byron, Keegan Leslie of Arcata, CA and Amity (Antonio Tamariz) Gilman of Alexandria, VA.Other survivors include two great grandsons, Elliot and Rowan Gilman of Byron and brother and sister, Earl Young and Donna Schuenke both of Faribault.Numerous other relatives and friends also survive. Pallbearers will be the grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Dollars for Scholars at Luverne High School or the charity of your choice.
