ROCHESTER:Mildred E Staege peacefully went home to her Lord and Savior Sunday, June 21, 2015 after 98 years on earth. Mildred E Staege was born February 9, 1912 in Elgin, MN the youngest daughter of Julius and Minnie (Gusa) Staege. She grew up and attended school in Wabasha county MN, then moved to Rochester MN with her family. Mildred attended school to become a licensed beautician and moved to St. Paul, MN.Mildred was employed from 1964 to 1982 at the MN Historical Society as a Personnel Management Analyst. At the MHS she was known for her specialty "Mildred's Rum Balls and continued making them for her family for many years. After her retirement she moved to Rochester to be closer to her family residing at Shorewood Senior complex. Mildred loved all types of animals and her choice of pets where her parrot type birds, Misty and Joey. Mildred loved to travel and enjoyed being with her family and many friends. She is survived by many nieces and nephews who will miss her smile and friendship.Mildred was preceded in death by ten siblings, August, Alvina Kuhlman, Edna Polikowsky, Alma Staege, Lillie Schwanke, Albert, Nora Staege, Minnie Swanson, Rueben, and Leona Swanson. Mildred was a member at Grace Lutheran Church, Rochester, MN where a memorial service will be heldFriday June 26, 2015 at 11:00 am with visitation an hour before.
