Michael Smith

ROCHESTER: Michael Smith, age 57, of Rochester passed away on Sunday, January 29, 2012 at Maple Manor Nursing Home. Michael Smith was born on May 26, 1954. He grew up in Grand Rapids, Minnesota and graduated from Grand Rapids High School. Michael worked for Blandin Paper Company in Grand Rapids and was a carpenter for 25 years. Michael enjoyed hunting and camping. He was known to be a bartender at various Rochester bars. Michael is survived by two sons, Aric Kranz of Rochester and Michael Kranz of Rochester; a daughter, Jaime (Jason) Starren of Thief River Falls, MN; two granddaughters, Lexi Vandal and Jolie Starren and a grandson Bryce Starren. He was preceded in death by his parents Francis and Lillian Smith. There will be a memorial service on Friday, February 3, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at Ranfranz and Vine Funeral Homes. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. A luncheon will follow the service at the V.F.W. in Rochester.
