Michael Lee Dass

Michael Lee Dass, (Mike), 61 of Rochester, died peacefully in his home surrounded by his loving family on December 15, 2014. He passed away following a valiant battle with cancer. Mike was born in Windom, MN on February 10, 1953 to Ernest and Gerry Dass. He was one of five children and grew up in the Twin Cities. Following graduation from Anoka High School he attended Bemidji State University where he studied education. Mike married Peggy in 1980 and they raised their family in Stewartville. An avid sports fan, Mike's love of the Minnesota Golden Gophers was second to none. He loved fishing, golfing, watching and playing sports, collecting cars and spending time with his family. He also enjoyed a career as a retail manager, spending many years managing the automotive department at Wards and most recently as a Assistant General Manager at Lowe's Home Improvement in Rochester. He is survived by his wife, Peggy, daughter Ruth (Michael) Thomas, son Andy (Britta Hendrickson) Dass, and his adoring fifteen month grandson Henry Thomas. He is also survived by his siblings Greg Dass, Patti (Hal) Johnson, and Maureen Dass. He is preceded in death by his parents as well as his brother, Dan Dass. A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, December 19, 2014 at Ranfranz and Vine Funeral Homes' Chapel. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. on Thursday, December 18, 2014 at Ranfranz and Vine Funeral Home and one hour before the service at the Funeral Home. A private family interment will be held at a later date. Memorials are suggested to Mayo Clinic Hospice.
