Michael L. Bjaastad

Funeral services for Michael L. Bjaastad, 81, of Rochester, MN will be at 1:30pm on Monday, February 15, 2016 at Salem Road Covenant Church.Visitation will be from 2:00 5:00pm on Sunday, February 14 at Ranfranz and Vine Funeral Homes and also one hour prior to the service at the church.Burial will be at Fairview Cemetery in Hayfield at a later date. Michael Lewis Bjaastad was born on May 21, 1934 in Hayfield, MN to Otto and Ethel (Iverson) Bjaastad.He died on February 10, 2016 at Cottagewood in Rochester. Michael graduated from Hayfield High School and served in the United States Army.He married Doris Fossum on June 16, 1957 in Hayfield.Michael worked for IBM as an Engineer for 33 years, retiring in 1990.He was a member of the Hayfield American Legion Post 330 and the Wine Club.He enjoyed camping, traveling, gardening, going to auctions and puttering around the house. Survivors include his wife, Doris of Rochester; a daughter, Lori (Mark) Bilderback of Rochester and a son, Jeff (Debbie) Bjaastad of Kansas City, MO; a sister, Cheryl Parkin; six grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren.He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Yvonne Cleveland. Memorials are suggested to Season Hospice.
